font-family: times new roman;">REVOLUTION OS tells the inside story of the hackers who rebelled against the proprietary software model and Microsoft to create GNU/Linux and the Open Source movement.

On June 1, 2001, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said “Linux is a cancer that attaches itself in an intellectual property sense to everything it touches.”

Microsoft fears GNU/Linux, and rightly so. GNU/Linux and the Open Source & Free Software movements arguably represent the greatest threat to Microsoft’s way of life. Shot in cinemascope on 35mm film in Silicon Valley, REVOLUTION OS tracks down the key movers and shakers behind Linux, and finds out how and why Linux became such a potent threat.

REVOLUTION OS features interviews with Linus Torvalds, Richard Stallman, Bruce Perens, Eric Raymond, Brian Behlendorf, Michael Tiemann, Larry Augustin, Frank Hecker, and Rob Malda. The film follows Sam for seven years as he suffers delusional manic episodes, battles paralyzing depressions, and tries to escape the legacy of his bipolar father who committed suicide when Sam was eight years old. By showing the difficult emotional impact of being bipolar on Sam, his family, all those who care about him and the filmmaker, "A Summer in the Cage" hopes to put a human face on an illness that affects millions of American families. But as this dramatic story unfolds and heads to an explosive standoff, it also becomes a unique tale about friendship and the ethical responsibilities of a documentary filmmaker.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1196701/

http://rapidshare.com/files/165128463/A.Summer.In.The.Cage.part1.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/165132610/A.Summer.In.The.Cage.part2.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/165136712/A.Summer.In.The.Cage.part3.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/165140774/A.Summer.In.The.Cage.part4.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/165142654/A.Summer.In.The.Cage.part5.rar

.........

Syd Barrett - Under Review (2005)

dvdrip xvid
Dimensions - 592x432
Audio - 128kbps
Size - 699mb

Runtime: 63 Minutes
Language: English
Country: UK
Color: Colour
IMDb Link: N/A
Director: N/A
Cast:
David Parker
Nigel Williamson
Hugh Hopper
Chris Welch
Malcolm Dome

Description: While his former bandmates in Pink Floyd have become global superstars, Syd Barrett remains an enigma and a complete recluse. Herself

Description: ''Streetwise,'' a study of young teen-age vagrants living in Seattle, began as an article (by Cheryl McCall) and photo-essay (by Mary Ellen Mark) in Life magazine. As a feature film, produced by Miss McCall and directed by Martin Bell, it still has the quality of a photo-essay observing a number of homeless teen- agers without structuring a narrative or otherwise commenting on what is seen. This shapelessness, and the unacknowledged presence of the camera in what seem to be small, intimate moments, would hurt the film if its interview footage were not so unmistakably authentic and, at times, so wrenching. ''Streetwise'' has its touches of sensationalism, but much of it is all too real.

One of the film's young subjects is Tiny, a 14-year-old prostitute who says that, for all she knows, one of the older men she ''dates'' (e.g., visits briefly in his automobile) could be her father. Tiny's mother, a waitress with a drinking problem, has married a man her daughter doesn't get along with; ''stepdads'' are a big problem for several of the girls who are interviewed. The camera follows Tiny to visit her mother on the job and have a free hamburger, and then goes along on several visits home. The mother, who looks not much older than Tiny but a great deal wearier, thinks her daughter's prostitution is ''just a phase'' she will outgrow.

One of the things that gives ''Streetwise'' its impact is an event the film makers could not have anticipated: the suicide of one of the half-dozen subjects they studied most closely. The film does not overemphasize the sordidness of street life or the bleak prospects it holds for these people's futures (if anything, many of the interviewees are captured at the height of their energy and bravado). But the sight of a 16-year-old's funeral attended by one parent, three social workers and just about no one else is as sad and moving a commentary as any other that could have been offered.

Download Links:
http://rapidshare.com/files/185633310/Streetwise__Mary_Ellen_Mark_.part1.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/185634018/Streetwise__Mary_Ellen_Mark_.part2.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/185649770/Streetwise__Mary_Ellen_Mark_.part3.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/185649765/Streetwise__Mary_Ellen_Mark_.part4.rar

Rar Password: None

Salvador Allende (2004)

Rating: 7.5/10
Runtime: 100
Language: Spanish (english subs included)
Country: Belgium | Chile | France | Germany | Spain | Mexico
Color: Black and White /Color
IMDb Link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0418129/

Director: Patricio Guzmán
Cast:
Salvador Allende ... Himself (as Alejandro 'Mono' Gonzáles)
Ema Malig ... Herself

Like Salvador Allende, Patricio Guzmán has dedicated his life to Chile, his country. It seems entirely normal, then, that he might consecrate a documentary to his political hero, martyr of September 11, 1973. More than a simple portrait, it is an inspired film in which Guzmán manages to take a considerable distance in relation to the subject. Taking archive images, survivor’s testimonies and a never-before-heard political analysis, he shows the enthusiasm that Allende’s victory in 1970 represented for an entire people, without eluding to the errors in judgment or, above all, showing the political and economical vise grip in which Allende found himself imprisoned. A very rich film, at times quite emotive, that breaks the taboo of silence about a beacon personality of the twentieth century.

Download Links:
http://rapidshare.com/files/197339443/Sal_Alle.part1.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/197347372/Sal_Alle.part2.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/197355583/Sal_Alle.part3.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/197363375/Sal_Alle.part4.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/197370849/Sal_Alle.part5.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/197430077/Sal_Alle.part6.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/197434793/Sal_Alle.part7.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/197436303/Sal_Alle.part8.rar

Rar Password: none

Reassemblage (1983)
File Name .........................................: Reassemblage.avi
File Size (in bytes) ............................: 524,302,336 bytes
Runtime ............................................: 39:37.356

Video Codec ...................................: XviD 1.1.2 Final
Frame Size ......................................: 624x480 (AR: 1.300)
FPS .................................................: 23.976
Video Bitrate ...................................: 1563 kb/s
Bits per Pixel ...................................: 0.218 bpp
B-VOP, N-VOP, QPel, GMC.............: [B-VOP], [], [], []

Audio Codec ...................................: 0x0055 MPEG-1 Layer 3
Sample Rate ...................................: 48000 Hz
Audio Bitrate ...................................: 192 kb/s [2 channel(s)] CBR
No. of audio streams .......................: 1
Runtime: 40
Language: English (English and portuguese (br) fansubs)
Country: USA
Color: Color
IMDb Link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084577/

Director: T. Minh-ha Trinh
Cast:
No cast - it's a documentary!

Description: Filmmaker, writer, poet, literary theorist, educator, musical composer, and (un/non)ethnographer, Trinh T. Minh-ha builds much of her work around the theme of the "other" (the persona one considers him/herself to be in relation to), challenging cultural theorists' traditional notions of the subject or/subjected duality. She performed three year's worth of ethnographic field research in West Africa the Research Expedition Program of the University of California, Berkeley. This fieldwork led in part to her first film, Reassemblage, which was filmed in Senegal and released in 1982.

Trinh's views on traditional ethnographic documentaries are hinted at in one of her voice-overs that occurs early in the film. She states: "I do not intend to speak about/Just speak near by." The film is a montage of fleeting images from Senegal and includes almost no narration, save for the occasional statements by Trinh, none of which attempt to assign meaning to the seconds-long scenes. Where one expects an omniscient, scientific voice to override the moving pictures in order to overlay a mapping schema of "meaning," there is sometimes music, sometimes no sound, sometimes Trinh assigning a reality or sign to the culture it hopes to "know" by viewing a movie, she refuses to make the film be "about" something, refuses to speak about the images, and denies the hopeful observer the opportunity to record, categorize, and save an("other") culture. The viewer is left with a sense of disorientation, in that no meaning was assigned to any of the images in the film, and yet the viewer's mind was constantly expecting such designations.

Download Links:
http://rapidshare.com/files/122575219/Trinh_T._Minh-ha_-_1983_-_Reassemblage.part1.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/122581814/Trinh_T._Minh-ha_-_1983_-_Reassemblage.part2.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/122587622/Trinh_T._Minh-ha_-_1983_-_Reassemblage.part3.rar[
http://rapidshare.com/files/122593491/Trinh_T._Minh-ha_-_1983_-_Reassemblage.part4.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/122600660/Trinh_T._Minh-ha_-_1983_-_Reassemblage.part5.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/122602412/Trinh_T._Minh-ha_-_1983_-_Reassemblage.part6.rar

Rar Password: None

VIDEO: 947 kbs
VIDEO CODEC: XviD
RESOLUTION: 544 x 320
AUDIO: MP3
FRAME RATE: 25 fps
FILE SIZE: 400 mb
Although this was supposed to have been included in the recent 'Blade Runner' box set, it never made it.
It has also disappeared from the familiar online streaming sites such as GoogleVideo, You Tube etc. ...strange !!!
This is my own rip from it's original 2000 transmission.
Rating: 7.4/10
Runtime: 52 min
Language: English
Country: UK
Color: Colour
IMDb Link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0281011/

Director: Andrew Abbott
Cast:
Mark Kermode ... In the vein of Lord of the Rings, World of Warcraft, and Dungeons and Dragons; these enthusiasts have developed a complicated world to bring their fantasies to life. Romantic relationships are forged between characters. Friendships are destroyed over plot disputes. Characters are slain and never return. But keeping this world alive takes a lot of real world work. And unless someone is willing to take charge, the fantasy may be lost forever

From Wikipedia:
Monster Camp is a feature-length documentary that chronicles a live action role-playing game organization. Monster Camp looks at the lives of the participants, and considers the pro and cons of escapism through fantastical outlets. Director Cullen Hoback documents the fantasy world, following several participants over the course of one year.

The group followed is a Seattle, Washington chapter of the New England Role Playing Organization (NERO), one of many live-action role-playing organizations in the US. Players create their own identities selecting from a variety of races and classes, similar to Dungeons and Dragons or World of Warcraft. Participants dress up and are involved as either player characters, non-player character, or Plot Members.

It premiered at the Cinequest Film Festival 17 in 2007, where it received the Audience Award for Best Documentary, and was also featured in the Seattle International Film Festival.

Download Links:
http://rapidshare.com/files/100290279/MCANSOMTEPR.part1.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/100298048/MCANSOMTEPR.part2.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/100305615/MCANSOMTEPR.part3.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/100313420/MCANSOMTEPR.part4.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/100321146/MCANSOMTEPR.part5.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/100328466/MCANSOMTEPR.part6.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/100335491/MCANSOMTEPR.part7.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/100336981/MCANSOMTEPR.part8.rar

Rar Password: None

Urban Explorers: into the darkness

Runtime: 85
Language: English
Country: USA
Color: color
IMDb Link: not listed

Director: Melody Gilbert
Cast:
Mr. X
Slim Jim
Max Action
Shane
Katwoman
Asylunt
Description: Documentary. The police think they are terrorists but urban explorers are actually a growing subculture of adventure seekers from around the world, who explore places where most people would never dream of going. They enter rotting buildings, crawl through storm drains and sewer tunnels, wander around faded tourist attractions, and rappel into long forgotten U.S. government sites. Some do it for the thrill of being where they´re not supposed to be and not knowing what lies ahead. Others do it to document history that is about to be demolished. The filmmakers follow them on their "missions" to abandoned mental hospitals, the former "house of the future" in Orlando, and even the catacombs in Paris. Will they get in? What will they find? Will they get arrested?

Download Links:
http://rapidshare.com/files/115902285/ExUrbi.part1.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/115906453/ExUrbi.part2.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/115910120/ExUrbi.part3.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/115913764/ExUrbi.part4.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/115916986/ExUrbi.part5.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/115917696/ExUrbi.part6.rar

Rar Password: none

The Cats of Mirikitani

Shown at over 20 film festivals, it won the Audience Awards at Tribeca, Washington D.C., and Paris, as well as Best Picture at the Tokyo International Film Festival.

699mb.

Runtime: 74
Language: English with some Japanese (eng subs hardcoded where necessary)
Country: USA
Color: Color
IMDb Link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0799976/

Director: Linda Hattendorf
Cast:
Tsutomu "Jimmy" Mirikitani ... himself
Linda Hattendorf ... herself

Description: If you are someone who is able to take my word for it that this film is wonderful in every respect and that you simply must watch it, then please stop reading this description right now and download it. The less you know going into the first viewing, the more you'll enjoy it. But if you need further information before making your decision, read on.

Jimmy Mirikitani is an 80-year-old Japanese American artist living homeless on the streets of New York City. He makes and sells drawings of cats and other things. Linda Hattendorf, the filmmaker, takes notice and starts filming this strange but somehow remarkable man. He holds a grudge lasting over half a century against the United States government for holding him and thousands of others at the Tule Lake internment camp during WWII, and we discover that every day he also draws picture after picture depicting his memories of camp life. 10 minutes into the film, it seems as if this story has nowhere to develop: Jimmy, for all his energy, is an old man, justifiably bitter, and unlikely to break from his cycle of anger. But the year is 2001, and while the distant past refuses to fade for Jimmy, another event is about to intrude into both his and Linda's lives. When she finds him coughing in the dark as the dust from the collapsed World Trade Center towers descends over his neighborhood, she has to make a choice, and it is that choice that throws open the world of the film wider and more beautifully than most films can even imagine.

To me, this is the first truly transcendent piece of art to emerge since motion picture media was digitally democratized and filmmaking became an art available to all. The use of small no-budget digital cameras allowed The Cats of Mirikitani to become one of the most personal, funny, and touching films I've ever seen. But this film also manages the noble task of telling the story of two of the most transformative events in American history - the internment of Japanese-Americans in camps during the Second World War, and the similar fear and disorientation that accompanied the attack on the World Trade Center and its aftermath. Jimmy Mirikitani is the charismatic, fiesty, and instantly wonderful real-life character that bridges these two events and provides characteristic critique and clarity on the full scope of the history that he has lived. And Linda Hattendorf is the New Yorker from Ohio who had the presence of mind to switch on a camera and keep it running - and not only that, but also the necessary compassion to risk her film and her story to do the right thing. For it, she, Jimmy, and the rest of us were rewarded with a story that exceeds all expectations.

Shot for next to nothing and edited in a crisp, expert manner, this is the rare documentary that discovers life in a state of disrepair but leaves it in a state of joy. Reflexively, the act of making the film becomes a way of comprehending the past as well as transforming the future for the better, and for this The Cats of Mirikitani deserves far more praise than it has yet received. It has the vision and the courage not to simply wallow in angst, despair, and ennui, but to blaze a trail out of it. Repeat viewings only enhance the wonder one must have for the film and the filmmaker, as well as for Jimmy, his art, and his story. A must see whether you love or hate documentary; this film will win you over, and in the words of a more prominent critic than I, "may well wipe you out."

Download Links:
http://rapidshare.com/files/142377876/The_Cats_of_Mirikitani__Hattendorf__2006_.part1.rar.html
http://rapidshare.com/files/142384679/The_Cats_of_Mirikitani__Hattendorf__2006_.part2.rar.html
http://rapidshare.com/files/142391823/The_Cats_of_Mirikitani__Hattendorf__2006_.part3.rar.html
http://rapidshare.com/files/142398378/The_Cats_of_Mirikitani__Hattendorf__2006_.part4.rar.html
http://rapidshare.com/files/142404798/The_Cats_of_Mirikitani__Hattendorf__2006_.part5.rar.html
http://rapidshare.com/files/142423365/The_Cats_of_Mirikitani__Hattendorf__2006_.part6.rar.html
http://rapidshare.com/files/142431179/The_Cats_of_Mirikitani__Hattendorf__2006_.part7.rar.html
http://rapidshare.com/files/142433263/The_Cats_of_Mirikitani__Hattendorf__2006_.part8.rar.html

Rar Password: None

D.I.Y. or Die: How to Survive as an Independent Artist (2002)

Rating: 7.5/10
Runtime: 55 min
Language: English
Country: USA
Color: Color
IMDb Link: http://imdb.com/title/tt0397380/

Director: Michael W. This movie is more appropriately "Go Out and Make Some Art, You Dummy!" If you are a creative person, or you think that you may be a creative person, then you need to see this movie, and then you have to go and do something about it. This film is an inspiration to me, and will be an inspiration to anyone who struggles with the demon of creation. There are many cool people that I had heard of in the movie. Everyone in it, whether famous or yet to be famous, has something important to say to you, the viewer. It was devised in the 1930s and yet is still used today with few modifications. Harry Beck, the designer of the map in 1933, was only paid five guineas for his original job. The only official acknowledgment he received is a plaque at Finchley Station. The poor man worked on it throughout his life, trying to improve and modify it, and that's all the thanks he got... a plaque at Finchley Central Station.

His map was originally rejected by the powers that be at London Transport1, mainly because it was not geographical. Indeed he enlarged the central areas and compressed the outer areas to make the whole complex map clearer. The map proved to be a great hit with the public and most other major cities (including New York, St Petersburg and Sydney) used his map as the basis for their own underground maps.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=K175FNHU

Richard Feynman Collection

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px;
